Fatal Seattle downtown shooting death of Kale Nusbaum – Obituary
Kale Nusbaum, 16, was killed in a shooting that occurred near the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Seattle on Wednesday night. The tragic event unfolded around 10 p.m. when a dispute between three males escalated, resulting in Nusbaum shooting two others before being fatally shot by a fourth man who was legally carrying a concealed firearm. Nusbaum was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
In addition to Nusbaum’s death, two other teenagers, aged 17 and 18, sustained serious gunshot wounds but are now recovering after hospitalization. The man who fired at Nusbaum cooperated fully with investigators and has not been arrested.
On the same evening, a separate stabbing near Westlake Park ended with the death of a man following a fight between two men at a car. The suspect was arrested early Thursday and charged with murder.
Meanwhile, in Pierce County’s Harry Todd Park, a dispute triggered a shooting that wounded seven people, including five teenagers. The chaotic incident occurred as large crowds gathered at the park, prompting panicked attempts to flee the area. Police report that the shooting was not targeted, and no ongoing threat to the public exists. The victims’ conditions range from stable to critical.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigations into all these violent incidents as the community grapples with the shock of multiple violent episodes in a short span. Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes emphasized the need for community cooperation to ensure a safer summer amid rising concerns over gun violence.
