Fatal Chennai bike crash death of M Kishan Sri Hari – Obituary
M Kishan Sri Hari, an 18-year-old engineering student from Nerkundram, tragically lost his life on Thursday morning after crashing his bike into a tree in Besant Nagar, Chennai.
Police reported that Kishan, who did not possess a valid driving license, was riding his father’s bike toward Besant Nagar beach. Despite wearing a helmet, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree along Besant Avenue.
Eyewitnesses, including nearby joggers, claimed there was a delay in medical assistance. One of them mentioned that although a doctor present at the scene attempted CPR, Kishan’s condition was critical. With no ambulance immediately available, the teen was taken to the hospital in an auto rickshaw.
Some bystanders expressed frustration with the emergency response, alleging difficulty in communicating the location to the 108 ambulance dispatcher. One witness claimed it took up to ten minutes for the first ambulance to arrive and another five for a second one.
In response, M Selvakumar, who heads operations for EMRI Green Health Services, reviewed the emergency call records. He stated that the ambulance reached the scene within seven to eight minutes and emphasized that only basic location details were requested during the 57-second call. He dismissed claims that callers were asked for unnecessary details like local zone or division.
Kishan’s untimely death has raised questions about both road safety among young riders and the responsiveness of emergency services in critical situations.
