Mahi Brijeshkumar Patel, a 10-year-old girl, tragically lost her life when a migrant boat capsized off the coast of San Diego on May 5, 2025.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Patel was one of four passengers who drowned in the accident. She had just celebrated her tenth birthday two days before the tragedy.
Her body was later discovered washed ashore at Torrey Pines State Beach on May 21. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boat’s overturn and the fate of those involved.
