Markus Colding dies in fatal Oakland car crash

Fatal Oakland car crash death of Markus Colding – Obituary

Markus Colding, a 41-year-old resident of San Leandro, was killed Thursday evening in a single-vehicle crash in East Oakland that authorities believe involved alcohol. The collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. on the 10800 block of San Leandro Street.

According to police, Colding’s vehicle struck a concrete center divider. Responding officers found him inside the car, removed him from the wreckage, and began emergency medical care. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A witness at the scene reported that the vehicle had been swerving and traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes prior to the crash. Investigators discovered an open alcohol container inside the vehicle, and they suspect alcohol played a role in the incident.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the crash to contact Oakland police traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
