Ronnie Hill, 48, a resident of Springfield, Kentucky, was identified as the individual who lost his life when a tornado struck Washington County on Friday morning. According to the Kentucky State Police, Hill was the only fatality resulting from the storm.
The tornado, later confirmed by the National Weather Service as an EF-2 with wind speeds reaching at least 115 miles per hour, also left 14 others injured across the region. Authorities noted that the hardest-hit area included Long Run Road, located outside of Springfield. This rural route remains closed to non-residents to facilitate emergency access and support local recovery operations.
Officials pointed out that no tornado sirens were present in the areas affected by the storm, which may have contributed to the severity of the impact. In response, Kentucky State Police have increased their presence in the county to assist with recovery and ensure public safety as cleanup efforts continue.
Washington County lies southwest of Lexington and approximately two hours from Cincinnati. Emergency personnel and local officials are continuing their coordinated efforts to assess damage and aid those affected by the destructive weather event.
