Carol Omo Aba, a 30-year-old woman from Perris, lost her life after being hit by a vehicle while walking on the 215 Freeway in Riverside County on the night of May 29.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Placentia Avenue in Perris. Preliminary findings indicate that Aba was on foot on the freeway when she was struck by a Ford F-150, which had just entered from the on-ramp.

The suspect, a 41-year-old resident of Menifee whose name has not been publicly released, was taken into custody on charges including DUI, felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Riverside Area Commander Captain Steve Branconier credited the community and partner agencies for helping bring the suspect to justice. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have asked anyone with additional information to contact CHP’s Accident Investigation Unit at 951-324-7210.
