Fatal Kitts Hill, Ohio UTV crash death of Emilie Gail Maynard – Obituary
Emilie Gail Maynard, 46, of Ashland, Kentucky, lost her life in a UTV accident that occurred Monday evening in Kitts Hill, located in Lawrence County, Ohio.
According to Sheriff Jeff Lawless, Maynard was a passenger in a 2019 Honda Pioneer 700 side-by-side UTV when it overturned during a slow-speed maneuver on County Road 30 around 5 p.m. Emergency responders arrived to find Maynard unresponsive near the vehicle. Despite efforts by deputies and EMS to revive her, she was declared dead at the scene.
The UTV was being driven by 18-year-old Molly Archer of Huntington, West Virginia. A 13-year-old passenger, also from Huntington, was riding in the middle seat. Both were unharmed. The sheriff’s office reported that the driver passed field sobriety tests, and there was no indication of intoxication, mechanical issues, or foul play.
Preliminary seatbelt checks revealed the driver’s seatbelt was buckled but unused, while the passenger belt on Maynard’s side was unlatched. An external examination by the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office is pending.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
