Fatal Caddo Parish stabbing death of Lara Lyons – Obituary
Lara Lyons, a 55-year-old high school teacher from Louisiana, was found dead in her Shreveport home after allegedly being fatally stabbed by her 19-year-old son, Conner Lyons, while she slept.
On Friday afternoon, around 2:11 p.m., deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call in which someone reported, “My brother killed my mother.” When law enforcement arrived, they found Conner Lyons sitting calmly on the back steps of the residence. He was detained and informed of his rights.
According to officials, Conner admitted to hearing voices and confessed to stabbing his mother three times on the right side of her neck with a knife as she slept. Deputies conducted a safety sweep of the home and located Lara Lyons deceased in her bed.
Conner Lyons has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Caddo Correctional Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
Lara Lyons was a well-respected educator at Mansfield High School. The DeSoto Parish Schools issued a statement describing her as a devoted teacher, compassionate co-worker, and a treasured member of their community. The district expressed their sorrow and confirmed that grief counseling is available for affected students and staff.
