Fatal Atlanta, Georgia tree limb accident death of Manuel Pinzon – Obituary

Manuel Pinzon, 78, lost his life in Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon after heroically pushing his twin granddaughters out of harm’s way just moments before a large tree limb came crashing down in their backyard.

According to Jason Krause, Pinzon’s son-in-law, the elderly man reacted in an instant to save eight-year-old twins Isabella and Gabi. As they played outdoors, a loud cracking noise from overhead warned of the imminent danger. Pinzon shoved the girls to safety but took the brunt of the impact himself.

“He gave his life for my daughters,” Krause said. “He pushed them away, and the limb struck him in the head. He didn’t survive.”

Gabi recalled the moment after the tree limb fell. “I told my sister to run and get help,” she said. The twins were in the backyard with their grandfather and his sister when the tragic event unfolded.

On Thursday, the girls reflected on their grandfather’s courage. “He’s a hero,” Gabi said. “He’s the only one who saved me.”

Krause described Pinzon as a man who cherished both his family and nature, calling him “the greatest man” he ever knew. “We’ve cried so much since it happened,” he said, “but all I want to do now is raise a glass to him. He died a hero.”
