Fatal Taylor County crash death of Eric James Doberstein – Obituary

Eric James Doberstein, 28, of Withee, died Sunday morning following a single-vehicle accident in Taylor County. The crash was reported around 6:15 a.m. on June 1 near Gibson Drive, just north of Stetson Avenue in the town of Little Black, about three miles south of Medford.

According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and emergency responders discovered a black Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck flipped onto its roof in the east ditch of Gibson Drive, showing severe damage. Doberstein, the driver and sole occupant, was found outside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that the pickup was traveling northbound at a high speed before veering off the road into the ditch. The truck hit a driveway embankment, became airborne, and then landed in a field, overturning onto its roof. Investigators say speed and alcohol appear to have played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
