Fatal Danville shooting death of Jay’Shaun Tiejae White – Obituary
Authorities in Danville, Virginia, are investigating a deadly shooting that erupted early Sunday morning at a large outdoor event, where Jay’Shaun Tiejae White, 22, of Hurt, Virginia, lost his life.
Police say the gunfire began around 1:30 a.m. on a private lot near the intersection of Carver Drive and Cheyenne Drive. Officers rushed to the scene after reports of shots fired and discovered White seated inside a Chrysler sedan, parked in the middle of the road, with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was declared dead on the spot.
A second man, believed to have been behind the wheel of the Chrysler when the shooting started, was located on a nearby street also suffering from a gunshot injury. He was transported to SOVAH Health hospital in Danville by ambulance. His condition was not provided.
In addition, three more victims—a 19-year-old woman and two adult men—arrived at SOVAH Health in separate private vehicles, also suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were hospitalized, with no update on their conditions as of Sunday afternoon.
Investigators believe that gunfire was exchanged between people inside the Chrysler and others attending the outdoor event. No suspects have been arrested at this time, and the Danville Police Department is asking the public for any information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
