Fatal Columbia shooting death of John Bidle – Obituary
John Bidle, aged 46, lost his life in a tragic shooting that occurred on Somerset Lane in Columbia, Tennessee, on the afternoon of Saturday, May 31. Another individual, 51-year-old Stacie Wright, was critically wounded in the same incident and later died while undergoing surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A third person sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and is currently recovering.
Authorities have arrested Byron Childers in connection to the violence. According to the Maury County District Attorney’s Office, Childers faces numerous charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault, carjacking, assault, and use of a firearm during a felony offense. He is being held without the option of bail.
District Attorney Brent Cooper reported that after the shooting, Childers tried to forcibly take a vehicle from an uninvolved individual. The Columbia Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the scene shortly after 3 p.m. and found the three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
