Naseem Kariem King dies in fatal Richmond shooting

Fatal Richmond shooting death of Naseem Kariem King – Obituary

Eighteen-year-old Naseem Kariem King, a resident of Varina, lost his life early Sunday morning in a shooting on Interstate 64 in Richmond, Virginia. Authorities say the incident occurred just before 2 a.m. near Exit 187 on the eastbound side of the highway.

According to Virginia State Police, King was driving a vehicle with two passengers when he was shot while traveling on the interstate. After the shooting, the vehicle veered onto the exit ramp for I-95 and came to a stop along the shoulder. King was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two passengers were unharmed.

The shooting has left members of the community shaken. Richmond resident Stephanie Morton shared her distress over the rising violence, especially on local roadways. “You’re 18. You haven’t lived, like you barely just got started,” she said. As a mother herself, Morton expressed fear for the safety of her own children who are just beginning to drive.

At this time, no suspects have been identified, and the case remains under active investigation.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is urged to contact Virginia State Police as the search for answers continues.
