Fatal Porter County crash deaths of Richard Dowding and William McCoy – Obituary

Two motorcyclists, Richard Dowding, 73, and William McCoy, 62, both from Portage, Indiana, were killed Friday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 6 in Porter County, according to authorities.

The incident began when a 2023 Audi Q7P heading eastbound on U.S. 6 near White Thorne Lane began to slow down with its left turn signal on. It was then rear-ended by a 2017 Nissan Rogue, which caused the Audi to veer into the westbound lane.

As a result, the Audi collided with two motorcycles traveling in the opposite direction. Emergency personnel responded to the scene at approximately 1:47 p.m. and found both motorcyclists unresponsive. Despite attempts to save their lives, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Porter County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
