Fatal Orlando murder-suicide death of Shelby Rose Ramirez – Obituary
Seven-year-old Shelby Rose Ramirez was the youngest victim in a shocking murder-suicide that claimed the lives of her entire immediate family inside their Orlando home. The tragedy unfolded Tuesday afternoon when police responded to the home on Lake District Lane in Lake Nona and found five family members deceased.
The alleged perpetrator, Donovan Michael Ramirez, 45, was Shelby’s stepfather. He is believed to have fatally shot Shelby, her mother Stephanie Renee Ramirez, 39, her sisters Alyssa Berumen, 22, and Sunny Ramirez, 11, before killing himself. A firearm was discovered at the scene.
Shelby was remembered as a sweet child, often seen with her family during walks or playing outside. Neighbors described the household as quiet and private, having only moved into the neighborhood a few months prior. The entire community has been left shaken by the violence, especially over the deaths of the two young girls.
Police noted that the scene was emotionally overwhelming, with one officer needing to step outside. The family’s dog was found unharmed and was removed from the home by Animal Control officers.
Tributes have started to appear in front of the family’s house as neighbors and friends come to terms with the tragic loss. Resources remain available for those in need of support.
