Fatal Davidsonville vehicle fire death of Stephen Kozas – Obituary

Stephen Kozas, a 67-year-old man from Annapolis, was identified by Anne Arundel County police as the victim whose body was found burned inside a car fire in Davidsonville.

The incident occurred on the evening of May 24, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., when emergency responders arrived at a commercial parking lot on West Central Avenue to find a vehicle engulfed in flames.

After extinguishing the fire, authorities discovered Kozas’ remains inside the passenger area of the charred vehicle. The death has been officially classified as a homicide, though the motive and precise cause remain under investigation. On May 31, police arrested 18-year-old Jonah Poole of Davidsonville and 18-year-old Kylee Dakes of Harwood.

Both face multiple charges including first and second-degree murder, assault, conspiracy to commit murder, and arson. Police continue to seek any additional information and encourage witnesses to come forward by contacting the investigation team at 410-222-4731.
