Terell Ferrell, 24, has been identified by authorities as the man who was fatally shot on Friday afternoon in Hillsborough County, Florida. The shooting occurred near the intersection of Progress Boulevard and 82nd Street, where the suspect opened fire on a vehicle.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Ferrell was riding in the passenger seat of a car driven by a woman who had briefly stopped to speak with the suspect. Her child was also present in the backseat during the encounter. Investigators say all parties involved were acquainted prior to the incident.
Without warning, the suspect pulled out a firearm and began shooting into the vehicle, striking Ferrell multiple times in the upper body. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver fled the scene in panic and, while escaping, accidentally hit a bicyclist nearby. The cyclist sustained only minor injuries. The woman then drove to a Thornton’s gas station on U.S. 301 to call for help. No additional injuries were reported.
As of Sunday, law enforcement officials had not yet apprehended the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed. Authorities continue to seek information from the public to help locate the shooter. Anyone with details is urged to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.
