Fatal Wichita shooting death of Darries Mitchell – Obituary
Darries Mitchell, 33, of Wichita, was killed early Tuesday morning during a shooting at The Market convenience store located near 21st Street and Minnesota. The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. when Wichita police were called to respond to a reported altercation and gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Mitchell unresponsive after sustaining gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to Sgt. Dan Harty of the Wichita Police Department, the shooting followed a verbal conflict between two customers. Although two employees were present during the incident, neither was physically harmed. The suspect fled the scene before authorities could apprehend him.
The store was temporarily closed while police conducted their investigation and reviewed surveillance footage from the premises.
