Fatal Redwood City jail incident death of Kyle Harrison – Obituary
Kyle Harrison, a 25-year-old inmate at the Maple Street Correctional Center, passed away after being discovered unresponsive in his cell on March 15, authorities confirmed.
According to a release from the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office, Harrison’s death has been classified as an accident caused by the toxic effects of three medications: methadone, amitriptyline, and gabapentin. These drugs are typically prescribed for treating opioid dependence, depression, and nerve pain, respectively.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts by correctional staff and medical personnel, Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the coroner’s and district attorney’s offices, is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the in-custody death. Final findings from the district attorney’s investigation are still pending.
Earlier this year, Harrison had received an eight-year prison sentence for his involvement in a street racing incident that led to the deaths of a couple from San Carlos and injuries to their young children.
