Fatal Memphis shooting death of Keyshun Thomas – Obituary
Keyshun Thomas was fatally wounded during a violent incident at a gas station in Memphis on May 18, according to police reports. Thomas was found suffering from a gunshot injury at the Thirsty Gas located at 2711 Range Line Road. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities identified 19-year-old Andre Scott as a suspect in the case after discovering his fingerprints on a case of Sprite left at the scene. Police say that during the investigation, two men told officers they had been involved in a shootout after being robbed at gunpoint by three men, one of whom was Scott. Thomas was struck by gunfire amid the confrontation.
Police reviewed surveillance footage that showed one suspect placing both hands on the Sprite case before fleeing. The prints found on the beverage case matched Scott, and one of the victims identified him in a photo lineup as the assailant who also took one of their guns during the robbery.
Scott was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder during the commission of a robbery. He is scheduled for a court appearance soon. It remains unclear if additional arrests will follow as the investigation continues.
