Aradshar Chaddar, a sophomore at Stanford University, lost his life early Saturday morning after his electric bicycle was struck by a car at the intersection of Palm Drive and Arboretum Road.
The incident occurred just before 3 a.m., and Chaddar was immediately transported to Stanford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Born in Maryland and originally from Pakistan, Chaddar joined Stanford in the fall of 2023, according to university officials.
Chaddar was actively involved on campus, serving as president of the Stanford Democrats and participating in groups such as Alpha Kappa Psi and the Pre-Law Society. He also contributed to the student newspaper, reflecting his commitment to the university community.
The driver involved remained at the scene and was unharmed. Authorities have ruled out alcohol and drug use as contributing factors to the crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
Stanford Vice Provost Michele Rasmussen extended condolences to Chaddar’s family, friends, and community, encouraging those affected to seek support through campus resources.
