Fatal Westwood drive-by shooting death of Jayshaun Cornelius – Obituary

Seventeen-year-old Jayshaun Cornelius was fatally shot during a drive-by attack early on June 3 in the Westwood neighborhood. The shooting occurred at a residence on the 3000 block of Percy Avenue, where a suspect fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene around 1:30 a.m.

 

Cornelius was found inside the home suffering from three gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the location by responding officers and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office. Authorities recovered several shell casings outside, and the ShotSpotter system detected up to 14 gunshots fired during the incident.

 

No suspects have been identified or apprehended at this time, as the investigation continues. This marks the third deadly shooting in Westwood this year, with three additional individuals injured in other shootings in the area.

 

Data shows that 91 people have been shot in Cincinnati so far in 2025, a decrease from 125 shootings during the same timeframe last year. Fatal shootings have also declined slightly, with 21 deaths recorded this year compared to 26 in 2024.
