Fatal Golden Valley Twin Cities vehicle collision death of Michael Lawver – Obituary
Michael Lawver, 42, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle late at night near the intersection of Highway 100 and Duluth Street in Golden Valley. The incident took place around 11:50 p.m. when Lawver, who had been driving erratically, exited his car and was hit by a following driver.
According to police reports, Lawver had been struggling with a passenger in his vehicle and was urged to pull over. After stopping on Duluth Street and exiting the vehicle, he was struck by a car driven by 40-year-old Sara A. Persons of Mounds View, who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide. Persons has a history of traffic violations including multiple speeding convictions and driving without proper registration or insurance.
Emergency responders attempted to revive Lawver at the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries. Other individuals involved in the crash were taken to North Memorial Health Hospital for medical evaluation. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results for all parties to determine if substances influenced the crash.
Assistant Police Chief Rudy Perez described the event as “a very horrific, tragic accident,” emphasizing a thorough investigation to uncover all facts surrounding the incident.
