Fatal Franklin car crash death of Minaben Patel – Obituary
Minaben Patel, a 38-year-old resident of Franklin, passed away on Monday due to severe injuries sustained in a collision that occurred in May.
According to authorities, Patel was traveling with her husband and two children along Grove Street when another vehicle veered across the center line and struck their car head-on. The impact was deadly, killing her 5-year-old daughter, Krisha Patel, at the scene and injuring her teenage son and husband.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 21-year-old James Blanchard of Franklin, was arrested at the crash site. He is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and possession of an open alcohol container while operating a vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Minaben, her son, and husband to a nearby hospital following the crash. While Minaben succumbed to her injuries days later, the current condition of her injured son has not been released.
The tragic loss has deeply affected the local community. Sully Jereidini, who runs the Treasure Box antique shop in Medway next to the Patel family’s liquor store, expressed his sorrow over the devastating events. “You never expect something like this to happen in your own town,” he said. “Losing a child — no parent should go through that.”
Investigators are continuing to examine the details of the incident.
