Fatal Cowlitz County motorcycle crash death of Troy R. Wood – Obituary
The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office has identified Troy R. Wood, 56, from Castle Rock, as the motorcyclist who died after being struck by a vehicle on May 23 in Lexington. Wood was confirmed as the sole fatality through fingerprint identification, with the cause of death listed as multiple blunt-force injuries.
According to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, Wood was traveling northbound on North Pacific Avenue when he stopped behind a school bus that was dropping off students near Alpenridge Lane in the 3100 block. A 34-year-old woman from Castle Rock was driving a van northbound and, upon descending a hillcrest, spotted the school bus and motorcycle at the last moment. While attempting to avoid the bus, she swerved but was unable to prevent the collision with Wood’s motorcycle.
Authorities have indicated that neither intoxication nor excessive speed was involved in the incident. The crash remains under investigation by local law enforcement.
