Fatal Sioux Falls car crash death of Casey Joe Wilson – Obituary
Casey Joe Wilson, a 50-year-old resident of Flandreau, South Dakota, lost his life in a two-vehicle accident that took place Monday morning along Interstate 90, just west of Sioux Falls. The crash was reported at approximately 9:06 a.m. near mile marker 394.
According to early findings from authorities, Wilson was behind the wheel of a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan when it collided with the back of a stationary 2015 Ford F-350, which was part of a road construction crew. The Ford truck had been stopped in the westbound right lane and was equipped with visible signage directing vehicles to shift into the left lane.
Following the collision, Wilson’s minivan ended up on the shoulder of the highway while the impact pushed the Ford truck into the median, where it eventually caught fire. Officials reported that Wilson was not wearing a seatbelt and died from his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Ford F-350 sustained only minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. Authorities noted that he had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to examine the crash, and all current details remain preliminary.
