Fatal Santa Maria shooting death of Julio Sanchez Lopez – Obituary

Julio Sanchez Lopez, a 24-year-old resident of Santa Maria, lost his life following a violent incident that involved both a stabbing and a shooting on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities say the events unfolded shortly before 2:30 p.m. on the 200 block of North Western Avenue.

 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two injured men—one suffering from stab wounds and the other from a gunshot wound. The gunshot victim, later identified as Julio Sanchez Lopez, was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

 

The man who had been stabbed is expected to survive, according to police.

 

A third individual at the scene, 31-year-old Josue Anguiano of Santa Maria, was taken into custody. Investigators believe he was responsible for both the stabbing and the shooting.

 

Anguiano is currently being held in the county jail and faces charges including murder, attempted murder, witness intimidation, and multiple felony firearm offenses.
