Kelvin Bernard Fernanders, 49, tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Thursday evening in Cherokee County. According to the local coroner’s office, the crash happened around 5:29 p.m. on Concord Road. Fernanders’ pickup truck veered off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, and flipped over. He was trapped inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Just under an hour later, a second fatal incident occurred near the intersection of S.C. Highway 150 North and Grassy Pond Road. Linda Tate Greene, 77, from Boiling Springs, was in the front passenger seat of a 2013 Ford driven by her husband. Authorities report that the vehicle entered the path of an oncoming pickup truck traveling south. Greene was transported to a nearby hospital but did not survive her injuries.
