Fatal Fresno County car crash death of Efrain Lara Jr. – Obituary
Efrain Lara Jr., a 28-year-old resident of Farmersville, lost his life in a tragic two-vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Fresno County.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 7 a.m. near the intersection of Buttonwillow and American avenues. A 64-year-old woman from Reedley was driving a Toyota Prius westbound on American Avenue when she attempted a left turn onto Buttonwillow Avenue.
At the same time, Lara Jr. was heading north on Buttonwillow Avenue in a Honda Accord. With no stop signs or signals to control traffic at the intersection, the Prius turned directly into the path of the Honda. Lara Jr. tried to brake and swerve left to avoid a collision, but the two vehicles collided front-end to front-end.
Lara Jr. was pronounced dead at the crash site. The driver of the Toyota was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment; her condition remains unknown. The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
