Fatal Banning Interstate 10 crash death of George Letts – Obituary
George Letts, 75, from Oro Valley, Arizona, lost his life in a rollover accident on eastbound Interstate 10 near Hargrave Street in Banning on the morning of June 3.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Letts was a front passenger in a Subaru Outback when the driver, also from Arizona, apparently lost control of the vehicle. The SUV veered onto the shoulder, rolled down an embankment, struck a power pole, and ended up resting on its roof near Banning Municipal Airport.
Paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived about 15 minutes after the crash and declared Letts deceased at the scene. The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment.
The freeway remained open throughout the investigation. Authorities have requested anyone with information to contact the CHP San Gorgonio office.
