Fatal Riverside County crash death of Gregory Lee Jaques – Obituary

Gregory Lee Jaques, 54, from Pico Rivera, lost his life in a single-vehicle accident east of Diamond Valley Lake on Thursday, June 5.

According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau, Jaques was discovered inside his 2013 Dodge Challenger after the car left the roadway, tumbling down a hillside covered with brush and rocks about 180 yards south of State Street and Cactus Valley Road near Hemet.

California Highway Patrol Officer Jonathan Torres explained that the vehicle was traveling southbound on State Street when it failed to successfully navigate the curve onto Cactus Valley Road.

The Challenger went off the road, crossing rough terrain before overturning and coming to rest on property belonging to the Eastern Municipal Water District.

The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. by witnesses in the area. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and declared the crash fatal.

Investigators have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the incident. The California Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Jaques’ next of kin have been notified, and the coroner’s office has released his identity. Further details about the cause of the crash remain pending.
