Fatal Eastern Pueblo County motorcycle crash death of John Jacob Madrid – Obituary
John Jacob Madrid, 38, tragically passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that occurred on May 31 in Eastern Pueblo County. The crash happened at the intersection of 29th Lane and South Road when Madrid, riding a Harley-Davidson southbound on 29th Lane, failed to yield at a stop sign while turning onto South Road.
At the time of the collision, a 37-year-old female passenger was riding with Madrid on the motorcycle. Neither Madrid nor his passenger were wearing helmets.
The motorcycle was struck by a Hyundai Tucson SUV traveling eastbound on South Road. Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected and rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. Madrid later succumbed to his wounds, while the passenger’s condition remains unknown.
The SUV driver, a 28-year-old man, was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle veered off the road but remained upright. The Colorado State Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
