Authorities have confirmed that Keo Resse Cruz Taiano was the victim in a deadly shooting that occurred Tuesday night in the parking lot of the Guam Premier Outlets.
The incident took place around 10 p.m., where Taiano was allegedly shot ten times by suspect Gregory Romero. Law enforcement officials have classified the case as a homicide, and Romero is facing multiple charges, including first-degree aggravated murder and second-degree aggravated assault, both with added allegations of using a deadly weapon during the crimes.
The community has since responded with an outpouring of tributes and condolences on social media, with many identifying Taiano as a member of the Guam National Guard. KUAM has reached out to the organization for an official statement on his passing.
A representative from GPO expressed sympathy in a public comment, stating, “This was a tragic event and we offer our prayers for all involved.”
Prosecutors are pushing for Romero to be held in pretrial detention and have requested a $1 million cash bail, labeling him a threat to public safety.
The investigation into the shooting continues.
