A tragic incident unfolded in the Khari region of Ramban district when a massive boulder rolled down onto a taxi traveling on the Khari-Trana link road, killing the driver and injuring four passengers. The accident occurred on Sunday and led to the immediate death of the driver, 28-year-old Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, a resident of Mandakbass in Khari tehsil.
According to police reports, the vehicle, bearing registration number JK19A-6521, was struck by the falling rock, resulting in severe damage. The four injured individuals were promptly transported to the Sub District Hospital in Banihal for emergency medical care.
After initial treatment, three of the injured—Bahar Ahmed Malik (28), his wife Mansoora Begum (26), and their infant son Mohammad Saad (10 months), all from Trana in Khari—were referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Anantnag for specialized care. Another passenger, 68-year-old Abdul Rehman Lone of the same area, received treatment at PHC Khari and was later discharged.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulbir Singh, confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation into the incident is underway.
