Fatal Milton car crash death of Mary O’Bier – Obituary

Mary O’Bier, a 74-year-old resident of Ellendale, lost her life following a vehicle collision in Milton on June 6, according to the Delaware State Police.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. when a Sussex County EMS Chevrolet Suburban, operating with its emergency lights and siren on, was heading west along Milton Ellendale Highway. As the emergency vehicle approached the Mulberry Street intersection, a Ford Bronco traveling northbound on Mulberry Street went through a stop sign and entered the highway, police reported.

The EMS vehicle hit the passenger side of the Bronco, causing it to rotate and crash into a nearby tree. O’Bier, who was behind the wheel of the Bronco, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The 38-year-old female paramedic driving the Suburban suffered non-life-threatening injuries and also received medical treatment.
