Cassandra Alston dies in fatal Florence house fire

Fatal Florence house fire death of Cassandra Alston – Obituary

Cassandra Alston, 55, lost her life on Tuesday after a fire engulfed a home on the 600 block of West Sumter Street in Florence, South Carolina, according to Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken.

Authorities confirmed that another individual sustained injuries in the incident, though no details regarding their current condition have been released.

The blaze broke out around midday, prompting an investigation by Florence police and the coroner’s office. Officials indicated on Tuesday that the fire appeared to have started accidentally. An autopsy for Alston is scheduled to be conducted later this week at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Later that same day, a separate fire erupted on the same street, destroying a double-wide mobile home just after 10:30 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the second incident.
