Fatal Indianapolis car crash death of Charles Collins – Obituary

Charles Collins, 62, of Indianapolis, died following a tragic car crash that occurred during an attempted robbery on the city’s south side last month.

Police from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a robbery around 11:30 a.m. on May 15 near the 8000 block of South Madison Avenue. When they arrived, they found Collins suffering from serious injuries to his head and abdomen. Investigators determined he had been struck by a vehicle during the incident.

Emergency responders transported Collins to Eskanazi Hospital, where he passed away two days later due to the severity of his injuries.

Following an investigation, detectives identified 32-year-old Corey Davis as the alleged driver involved in the crash. He was taken into custody by IMPD’s Violent Crimes Unit on Thursday.

Court records indicate Davis now faces charges of felony murder and robbery. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday morning before Judge Charles F. Miller in Marion Superior Court 29.
