Fatal Largo shooting deaths of Elizabeth Lee Kirchner and Steven Eric Kirchner – Obituary
A tragic incident in Largo, Florida has left the community stunned after Elizabeth Lee Kirchner, 53, and Steven Eric Kirchner, 64, were found fatally shot inside their home on Saunders Avenue. Authorities discovered the couple after a welfare check was requested due to one of them missing work unexpectedly.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home and uncovered what quickly turned into a double homicide case. Their adult son, 37-year-old Nicholas Steven Kirchner, became the primary suspect after he fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Kirchner later made alarming statements in South Carolina, where he allegedly said, “I’ve already killed two people — I’ll kill some more.” His comments caught the attention of law enforcement and ultimately led to his arrest in Taliaferro County, Georgia.
After being taken into custody, Nicholas Kirchner reportedly confessed to the murders several times and described his actions as a “righteous kill.” He now faces two charges of first-degree murder. Authorities have yet to provide additional details about what led to the violent acts or his encounter in South Carolina.
Neighbors expressed disbelief over the violent loss, with one resident commenting on how unthinkable it was that such a tragedy occurred just a few houses away. As the investigation continues, the Largo community remains shaken while the suspect awaits legal proceedings from a Georgia jail.
