Madison Boone dies in fatal Abita Springs head-on crash

Fatal Abita Springs head-on crash death of Madison Boone – Obituary

Madison E. Boone, a 20-year-old resident of Mandeville, Louisiana, was killed in a head-on collision on the night of Monday, June 2, 2025, along LA Highway 36 near Barbee Road in Abita Springs, located in St. Tammany Parish.

The Louisiana State Police reported that Boone was driving a 2004 Buick LeSabre westbound when a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, heading in the opposite direction, veered across the centerline and crashed head-on into her car. Boone was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact and sustained critical injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital but tragically passed away.

The other driver, whose name has not been disclosed, was hospitalized with moderate injuries and issued a citation for driving on the wrong side of the roadway, in violation of Louisiana statute LRS 32:71. Toxicology samples were taken from both individuals as part of routine procedures, and results are pending.

The collision remains under active investigation. Troopers plan to forward their findings to the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for further legal evaluation and the potential for additional charges.

This fatal crash underscores the serious risks associated with head-on collisions and the importance of seatbelt use. In rural Louisiana, roadways like LA 36 can be particularly dangerous due to minimal lighting, narrow lanes, and limited physical barriers. When vehicles cross into oncoming traffic, the resulting impacts are often deadly.

Boone’s death also brings attention to the broader issue of lane discipline and the devastating consequences of even momentary driver error. Whether due to distraction, fatigue, or impairment, veering out of one’s lane can lead to irreversible outcomes.

We extend our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Madison Boone as they navigate this profound loss.
