Scott Roberts dies in fatal Utah shooting

Fatal Utah shooting death of Scott Roberts – Obituary

Scott Roberts was shot and killed in his own home after his estranged brother, Jeffrey Roberts of Long Beach, California, drove more than 700 miles to Utah and opened fire in a violent and calculated attack.

The confrontation was captured on a Ring camera at Scott’s Upper Westside residence. When Jeffrey arrived, he claimed he came to see their mother. Scott informed him that she was living in Missouri. Moments later, Jeffrey pulled a gun from his jacket and shot Scott multiple times at point-blank range.

Following the initial shooting, Jeffrey returned to his van to retrieve more weapons, including a shotgun and a duffel bag, before shooting and wounding his sister-in-law. Despite her injuries, she survived the attack.

The situation escalated further when Jeffrey set the home on fire using road flares. A neighbor, alarmed by the gunshots and smoke, called 911. When officers arrived, they were met with gunfire from Jeffrey, who emerged from the burning house heavily armed. Law enforcement responded with lethal force, killing Jeffrey Roberts at the scene.

Authorities later discovered that Jeffrey had brought with him multiple firearms, over 150 shotgun shells, and additional loaded magazines, suggesting he had planned the attack in advance.

Neighbors and loved ones remembered Scott Roberts as a kind, selfless individual who would help anyone in need. A family member called him a hero, believing his warning to his wife to run likely saved her life.

In contrast, those who knew Jeffrey described him as volatile, controlling, and aggressive, particularly toward their mother.

The tragic loss of Scott Roberts leaves a lasting impact on his family and community, who mourn the death of a man remembered for his compassion and courage.
