Wyllyam James Sheffey Jr., 20, of Ashtabula, was pronounced dead following a shooting that took place Saturday evening at the intersection of North State Street and Rockwood Drive in Painesville, Ohio.

Police responded to reports of gunfire around 7:59 p.m. and found Sheffey Jr. deceased in the driver’s seat of a vehicle at the scene. Authorities clarified that the shooting was unrelated to the nearby Spring Block Party hosted on Main Street. The investigation involved several agencies, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Painesville City Fire Department, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification, which gathered and processed a significant amount of evidence.
