Fatal Lost Hills car crash death of Kent Trochelman – Obituary

Kent Trochelman, a 75-year-old resident of Owosso, Michigan, lost his life in a single-vehicle accident that occurred on June 2, 2025, along Interstate 5, just south of Highway 46 near Lost Hills in Kern County.

The California Highway Patrol reported that Trochelman had been traveling southbound in a 2018 Jeep Compass at a high speed when, for reasons still under investigation, he abruptly steered off the roadway. The vehicle exited the highway, heading onto the dirt shoulder, then veered southwest, crashing through multiple bushes, trees, and sections of fencing before finally stopping in a dry canal west of the interstate.

Authorities confirmed that Trochelman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was declared dead at the scene. Investigators suspect that alcohol may have played a role in the fatal incident.
