Fatal Sedgwick County car crash death of Lousina Kay Mishler – Obituary
Lousina Kay Mishler, a 78-year-old woman from Clearwater, lost her life Saturday evening in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of K-42 highway and Tyler Road in Sedgwick County.
Authorities from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency responders, including the Wichita Fire Department and Sedgwick County EMS, arrived just before 7 p.m. after multiple calls about the crash, which involved possible entrapment. The collision involved a black Dodge Challenger and a blue Chevrolet Blazer. The Blazer flipped onto its roof as a result of the impact, trapping two passengers inside.
Mishler, who was a passenger in the Blazer, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of EMS personnel. The driver of the Blazer, also 78 and from Clearwater, was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The Dodge Challenger’s driver, a 24-year-old Wichita man, suffered minor injuries and refused transport.
Initial investigation shows the Challenger was traveling east on K-42 and attempted to turn north onto Tyler Road when it collided with the westbound Blazer.
Investigators believe the Challenger failed to yield the right of way. No signs of impairment were found, and all occupants were wearing seat belts. The crash reconstruction team is continuing the investigation, and charges may be considered after further review.
