Tre Kingsbury dies in fatal Chicopee shooting

Fatal Chicopee shooting death of Tre Kingsbury – Obituary

Tre Kingsbury, age 21, tragically lost his life in a shooting that occurred on May 29 at 16 Charbonneau Terrace in Chicopee, Massachusetts. According to authorities, the Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene around 9 p.m. where they found Kingsbury suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the location.

 

The suspect, 17-year-old Jayshawn Kempton, has been charged with murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Kempton pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on May 30 in Chicopee District Court.

 

Born in Middlebury, Vermont, Kingsbury moved to West Springfield, Massachusetts, where he attended West Springfield High School. He was known for his love of the outdoors, music—especially playing guitar and writing—and was an avid reader. Tre is survived by his parents, Rachel Mager and Benjamin Kingsbury, his girlfriend, seven siblings, grandparents, and many close friends and family.

 

A celebration of Kingsbury’s life is scheduled for June 13 at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, with a prayer service to follow. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support his family during this difficult time.
