Frank David Campa dies in fatal Tucson motorcycle and dump truck crash
Fatal Tucson motorcycle and dump truck crash death of Frank David Campa – Obituary
Frank David Campa, 63, of Tucson died on June 9 from injuries sustained in a collision with a dump truck. The accident occurred near the intersection of Alvernon Way and Benson Highway.
According to Tucson Police, the dump truck was stopped in the curb lane waiting for the westbound red light on Benson Highway. Campa, traveling westbound as well, rode on the shoulder to bypass the line of vehicles and positioned himself beside the dump truck at the front.
When the traffic light turned green, the dump truck began making a right turn onto northbound Alvernon Way, during which Campa was struck by the truck. Emergency responders took Campa to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Officers from the DUI Unit evaluated the dump truck driver, a 40-year-old man, and determined he was not impaired at the time of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
