Fatal Portsmouth motorcycle crash death of Juan Pablo Garcia Castro – Obituary

Juan Pablo Garcia Castro, 36, from Middletown, passed away on June 9 due to injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident that happened on June 5 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The crash took place on Route 24 North, where Garcia Castro was riding his motorcycle while wearing a helmet.

According to the Portsmouth Police Department, officers were called to the scene near West Main Road at the Route 24 North on-ramp at about 4:02 p.m. on June 5 after a single motorcycle crash was reported. Upon arrival, first responders found the motorcyclist unconscious and unresponsive. The Portsmouth Fire Department also responded quickly and transported Garcia Castro first to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. He was later airlifted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that Garcia Castro was traveling north on West Main Road and merged onto Route 24 North in the left lane. While navigating a curve on the highway, he shifted lanes and then collided with a guardrail, which caused him to be thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle itself continued moving before coming to a stop.

The Portsmouth Police Detective Division and the Accident Reconstruction Unit are continuing their investigation into the crash. Authorities ask anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
