Kevin Ford dies in fatal Pittsburg, Texas storm accident

Kevin Ford dies in fatal Pittsburg, Texas storm accident

Fatal Pittsburg, Texas storm death of Kevin Ford – Obituary

Kevin Ford lost his life after a violent storm struck Pittsburg, Texas, on Sunday night, causing a tree to collapse onto his family’s home. His mother, Carol Ford, recounted the heartbreaking moments leading up to the tragedy as high winds tore through the area.

According to Carol, emergency alerts about the approaching storm came through around 11:30 p.m. With wind speeds reaching up to 80 miles per hour, she and Kevin quickly tried to shelter in place. Carol hid in the pantry with a flashlight, taking cover behind a large icebox. Kevin moved toward the back of the home.

Moments later, a loud impact shook the house. Debris began falling, and Carol was hit on the head by a piece of lumber, though she remained conscious. A massive tree had come down on the mobile home and on Kevin’s truck parked nearby.

Carol called out for her son but received no reply. She dialed 911, and rescue crews eventually helped her escape through a window. She refused to go to the hospital until she knew Kevin’s condition, only to later learn from her other son that Kevin had been found deceased.

Kevin had lived with his mother for 15 years following his father’s passing and had also helped raise his daughter. A graduate of Gilmer High School, he was well-known in the local community. Carol, who was treated and released from the hospital, now plans to relocate with help from Kevin’s friends. Unfortunately, the family home was uninsured.
