Fatal Hancock County traffic crash death of Lihua Wei – Obituary
Lihua Wei, 48, of Shelbyville, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle collision that occurred on June 2 at the intersection of County Road 600 East and U.S. 40 in Hancock County. Wei was driving a 2017 Acura ILX northbound on County Road 600 East when the accident happened.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Wei approached the stop sign at U.S. 40 and pulled into the intersection, where her vehicle collided with a 2012 Ford F-350 driven by a teenage boy traveling east on U.S. 40. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the road and come to rest in a nearby field on the northwest corner of the intersection.
Wei was pronounced dead at the scene, while details regarding the condition of the other driver have not been disclosed. The sheriff’s department reported that the Acura’s movement into the path of the Ford resulted in the crash.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Authorities continue to look into the circumstances leading to the collision.
