Fatal Kent, Washington car crash death of Liz L. Vili-Kereti – Obituary

A tragic hit-and-run collision on northbound I-5 near SR 516 in Kent claimed the life of 61-year-old Liz L. Vili-Kereti on Monday evening, June 9, 2025, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred around 6:46 p.m. when a black Tesla Model 3 rear-ended a gray 2000 Lexus ES traveling in the second lane. The impact forced the Lexus into the right-side guardrail before it came to a stop in the first lane. The Tesla continued onto the right shoulder after the collision.

Liz L. Vili-Kereti, a passenger in the Lexus and a resident of Federal Way, died at the scene. The 18-year-old driver, also from Federal Way, sustained injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Authorities reported that neither occupant had been wearing a seatbelt at the time.

A 26-year-old man from Federal Way has been taken into custody in connection with the crash. The incident remains under investigation by state authorities.
