Fatal Cumberland County police chase motorcycle crash death of Thomas Staff – Obituary

Thomas Staff, 24, from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, died after a high-speed police pursuit ended in a crash on Interstate 81 in East Pennsboro Township on Thursday evening.

 

According to Pennsylvania State Police, officers tried to stop Staff for multiple traffic violations around 7 p.m. as he rode his motorcycle through Wormleysburg. Instead of pulling over, Staff fled, leading police on a chase that continued onto the northbound ramp of I-81. During the pursuit, Staff lost control, collided with a barrier, and was thrown into a parked dump truck.

 

Emergency responders transported him to Holy Spirit Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
